Combined Passive and Active Noise Reduction for excellent speech intelligibility and hearing protection
RA108 is a headset for use in high noise environments which is also compatible with close-fitting ballistic helmets. The headset attenuates higher-frequency ambient noise through Passive Noise Reduction (PNR), using the mass and volume of the headset. For lower frequencies it relies on supplementary attenuation from low-profile Active Noise Reduction (ANR) modules in each earcup.
ADVISORY: RA108 is designed and engineered to meet special customer agreed requirements, not certified to CE or RoHS compliant.
RA108 headset delivers combined Passive and Active Noise Reduction (ANR) for excellent speech intelligibility and hearing protection in a slim profile compatible with helmets.
Passive and Active Noise Reduction (ANR) features protect the hearing of users exposed to high levels of continuous noise; the headset achieves high levels of noise attenuation. The user can enable hear-through to hear local environment sounds at safe levels (<85dBA), to maintain situational awareness of hazards or permit face-to-face conversations without defeating the hearing protection.
The close-fitting US Army PASGT helmet sets a difficult noise-reduction challenge, one that the RA108 headset overcomes thanks to its low-profile, internal, advanced Active Noise Reduction (ANR) modules and uniquely sculpted shape. The RA108 is compatible with PASGT-style helmets across the world, as well as a wide variety of weapons and equipment.
The headset downlead is factory configured and terminated into the required connector with pinout and audio levels to match the attached equipment, enabling the headset to support mono or stereo communications. An optional push-to-talk (PTT) toggle switch is available, located in-line with the downlead cable. The boom microphone can be permanent live, or switched via the PTT. The headset Active Noise Reduction (ANR) and optional hear-through functions can be individually enabled/disabled via an optional control switch mounted on the earcup. The headset draws external power from the attached equipment for ANR and optional electronic hear-through features (18V to 28V DC supply required).
